I am super excited to have Elijah Lee, a teen writer, podcaster, and very good friend of mine, write a guest post for The Remnant! This has been many weeks in the making, and the time is finally here. I hope you guys enjoy his article!
Many Christians think politics should be avoided—like it’s just a “dirty game” people play for power. Some even say the Bible never tells us to get involved in politics, or that since our real citizenship is in Heaven (Philippians 3:20), it doesn’t matter what happens here on earth.
I get those points. Honestly, I could just leave it there and not talk about it—but I want to. This is something really close to my heart.
So why should Christian teens—and teens in general—care about politics? Why should you care? Let’s check out three people in the Bible who show us why it matters.
Joseph, Jacob’s son, was made second in command of Egypt in Genesis 41. Even though his brothers sold him into slavery, God used that to put him in a position where he could save millions during a seven-year famine. That alone shows politics and faith do mix. God clearly wants His people to step up and make an impact for His glory.
Then there’s Esther. God worked things out so she became queen, and through that position, she saved her people from destruction. If God was against politics, He could have rescued them another way. But instead, He used someone who started out as a nobody and placed her in government to make a difference.
And let’s not forget Daniel. He was surrounded by jealousy, corruption, and scheming officials who tried to take him down. That sounds a lot like the “dirty game” people talk about. But even then, Daniel stood firm, and God used him to influence kings and kingdoms. His story makes it clear: evil exists in politics, and that’s exactly why Christians should care.
Now, maybe you’re thinking, “I’m too young for this.” But remember—King Josiah was only eight years old when he started ruling. You don’t need to be president to make a difference. You can start by doing the right thing, paying attention to what’s going on, and having real conversations with your friends.
God used David, Solomon, Jehu, and so many others to carry out His plan. He can use you too. Never think you’re too small. With God, you can do big things if you’re willing.
And no, I’m not saying you should go out and cause chaos or do something extreme. What I am saying is this: care. Care about what’s happening in the world, because whether you realize it or not, what happens in government affects you.
Every person has a desire for freedom, even if they don’t recognize it until they’re in chains.
God can do amazing things with someone who’s willing. The question is—will you be that person?

Elijah Lee is a startup political podcaster trying to get teens aware of politics in an interesting and relatable fashion. He is a missionary kid and a proud homeschooler. As a Christian he believes that this world couldn't possibly be more ready for Christian teens stepping up to the plate.
