When difficulties arise in our lives, it’s so easy to worry and stress about them. Anxiety practically comes naturally – even effortlessly – to us. Yet, we don’t have to allow such anxiety to take root in our hearts and minds because the all-powerful King of kind has already fought the battle on our behalf – and won!

Let’s take a closer look this week at Mark 16:1-4, a passage that gave me so much peace amid overwhelming anxiety earlier this year. Here we see Mary Magdalene, Mary (Jesus’ mother), and Salome going to Jesus’ tomb to anoint Him with spices. This was just a couple days after He was crucified, and devastation and grief hung heavily on these ladies’ hearts.

As they made their way to the tomb, they wondered how they would move the large stone that sealed the tomb’s entrance. “And they said among themselves, ‘Who will roll away the tomb for us?’” (verse three, NKJV).

When problems come up in our lives, we naturally question how we will overcome them and how they will be solved. When I read this passage a few months ago, I was about to make a huge decision that seemed incredibly difficult and even impossible. I was worried about so many different aspects of this situation. That’s when the Holy Spirit convicted me of my lack of faith through verse four.

“But when they [the women] looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away – for it was very large.”

Little did the women know that while they questioned and worried about the problem, God had already worked out the solution.

I realized then that no matter what problem I would have, God would have already seen it coming. It would never surprise Him or catch Him off guard. Furthermore, He’d already have the solution! The God Who has every single day of our lives written in His book (Psalm 139:16) knows exactly what we’ll face and when. He is greater and more powerful than any problem or storm we could possibly face.

In Matthew 6:8 Jesus said, “‘…For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.” He not only sees your present but also your future. Time cannot limit His power. When Romans 8:28 says that He works all things together for good, it means He is working in your future as well as your present.

What “large stones” are you facing in your life today? Instead of worrying about them, trust that even before they show up God already has the solution.

            Let’s do it together.

Announcement!

Over the summer, I've been posting bi-weekly instead of weekly. However, as I enter a new season of life, I will be sticking to the bi-weekly posting schedule instead of returning to posting weekly. It's been a great experience posting weekly for almost a year, and I will miss it. But to avoid burnout and to prioritize the most important things in life right now, I will continue with the current schedule.

But don't worry because I can't wait for the posts coming up, as they are very close to my heart. See you all in a couple of weeks!
